Dear David,
I've been meaning
to write you for a month but glad I
waited. There are now more things
to tell you.
The house is not
the biggest on the block but it stands
out as simple and beautiful. We
are very happy how it turned out.
I know we had to
depend on you for a lot of decisions
since we were not here very much.
You did an excellent job. I
remember you calling me (I think when I
was in Texas) and asked about tile in my
bathroom. You said you thought it
needed a bit of trim. I asked you
what color of trim. I don't
remember what you said but I said okay.
I don't think other people build houses
that way, but you seemed to understand
that we wanted a plain, livable house .
. . and I love the tile in my bath.
If I had to pick
my favorite things about the house they
would be my bathroom with its special
warm floor, the beautiful wood floor and
stairs, the surprise cabinet Clifford
build, the pickled pine on the north
wall, the porch with the pine ceiling
and railing, the color of the outside of
the house and the views from all of the
windows.
I've also got the
feeling that you and your crew were
proud of the house too. The young
man Kim and I talked to at your barn
last week remembered our house and
commented that he sure liked it.
I named our place
"Rabbit Hill" because of the cottontails
but the other day I saw a fox slipping
through the Christmas trees so I may
have to change it to "Fox Hill."
There is a groundhog that has visited
several times and deer we see almost
every evening.
We feel very lucky
to have picked you and your crew for our
builders!
We hope you and Kim
and the girls can come and visit.
Thank you,
Joyce Mitchell |
